Understanding the Language of the SoulThe unconscious is a universal ocean in which all of us have roots. – Anais Nin How the Soul Reveals ItselfThe soul speaks through symbols and images, making it difficult to decipher its messages. It seeks to unite and to bring all the parts self back into wholeness. Our bodies, nature, dreams, and shadow selves are always speaking through symbolic messages, attempting to connect us to our True Selves. Our job is to understand and follow their guidance. The BodyThe body is a vehicle for creativity, intelligence, and wisdom. It is a mediator between the inner and outer world. Tight muscles, aches, pains, illness, and other body symptoms let us know when our lives are out of balance. Our instincts warn us when we are in danger and let us know when something feels right. The body will never lie. It is our vehicle for manifestation. NatureNature reflects the inner world of the unconscious. The same rules that govern outer nature are also true for us. As we observe nature, we remember the cyclical nature of life, our connection to all things, and to its many healing powers. DreamsClarissa Pinkola Estes once said that dreams are like letters from God. They help us to gain knowledge of the unconscious and help us to unite the disparate parts of ourselves. Dreams have the power to awaken us and guide us into spiritual maturity. The ShadowThe shadow contains both the unacceptable and unlived parts of the self. Because it resides in the unconscious, it is not under the ego’s control. When we are unconscious, these attributes are projected onto others or acted out in a destructive way. As we consciously build a compassionate relationship to disowned aspects of ourselves, we create a more humane and emotionally honest world.
